Learn to scuba dive in Malapascua
The PADI Open Water Diver Course is the world's most popular scuba diving certification, and Malapascua is a wonderful place to earn it. In 2 days at MBI Dive Center, you go from your first breath underwater to a certified diver, learning through eLearning theory, confined water training and open water dives with our experienced instructors. Your certification is recognised worldwide and lasts for life, so you can dive anywhere in the Philippines and around the world.
How the course works
eLearning - study the theory online at your own pace, so more of your time in Malapascua is spent in the water
Confined water training - learn and practise core scuba skills in calm, shallow water until they feel natural
Open water dives - four training dives in the ocean, putting your skills to use while exploring the reefs around Malapascua Island
Your instructor stays with you at every stage, and groups are limited to a maximum of 8 students so everyone gets proper attention.
What you will be able to do
Once certified, you can dive to 18 metres with a buddy without a professional, rent scuba equipment, and book fun dives at dive centers worldwide. Here in Malapascua that means you can join our guided local dives straight away.
Who it is for
Complete beginners with a minimum age of 10. You do not need any previous experience. You will need to be comfortable in the water and complete a simple swim and float assessment, and every student fills in a medical questionnaire before training. Not sure scuba is for you yet? Try our Discovery Scuba Dive first.
What is included
eLearning, full dive equipment rental, instructor fees, marine fees, fuel surcharge, and coffee, tea and water throughout your training.
Want to see the thresher sharks?
Malapascua's famous thresher shark dives at Kimud Shoal are open to Advanced Open Water divers and above. After Open Water, continue with our PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course, which includes three shark dives as part of the training.
