Your first breath underwater in Malapascua
Always wondered what it feels like to breathe underwater? The Discovery Scuba Dive at MBI Dive Center is the easiest way to try scuba diving in the Philippines without committing to a full course. You need no experience and no certification - just basic comfort in the water and a sense of adventure. A PADI professional stays right beside you from the first briefing until you are back on the boat.
How the day works
We start with a relaxed briefing at the dive center, where your instructor explains how the equipment works and how to breathe through the regulator. You then practise a few simple skills in calm, shallow water, such as clearing your mask and recovering your regulator, until you feel ready. After that you head out on a guided local dive around Malapascua Island, staying shallow and close to your instructor the whole time.
Who it is for
Complete beginners, nervous swimmers who want to take it slowly, and travellers who want to see the reef before deciding on the PADI Open Water Diver course. Every guest completes a short medical questionnaire before diving, and some conditions need a doctor's sign-off first.
What you will see
Malapascua's local reefs are home to colourful corals, reef fish, and macro life that our guides love pointing out. Please note that the famous thresher shark dives at Kimud Shoal are for certified divers only.
