Overview

The Pioneer wreck lies very deep, with sources giving depths from about 46 to 54 m. Its identity is debated. It is named after the passenger ship M/V Pioneer Cebu, reported sunk in 1966, but some local divers think it is the Mogami Maru, a Second World War Japanese sub chaser.

At this depth it is a technical dive. It needs technical training, appropriate gas and decompression planning, and is not part of our recreational programme.
